Tom McGee received his Master in Public Policy in May 2024 from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Knox Memorial Fellow. His research interests include the geopolitics of technology and industrial policy, two areas he explored in depth through a research visit to Japan and Taiwan. His Master’s thesis – co-authored with Hugh Grant-Chapman – was awarded the Prize for Outstanding Policy Analysis Exercise.
Before graduate school, Tom was a Senior Policy Advisor in several UK government departments. At the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, he helped to implement the UK Innovation Strategy, with a particular focus on the commercialisation of university research. He received his BA in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Cambridge, ranked top of his year.
