Bio

Aaron Bailey-Athias is Engagement Lead at the Centre for Emerging Technology and Security (CETaS) and is responsible for leading the Centre's external engagement activities and communications and engagement strategy. He has years of experience in communications and policy engagement for non-profit organisations and the public sector. Prior to joining the Turing, he held a policy advisory role within the UK Government's Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), working in a team focused at shaping global digital and tech norms and standards so they are underpinned by open society and democratic values, and human rights.

Before DCMS, Aaron was Senior Communications Officer at the global affairs think tank ODI working as a thematic communications lead on projects relating to youth employment, inclusive economic growth, technology and digitalisation. At ODI he led a multistakeholder Interest Group looking at issues intersecting youth, technology and human rights. He has written on topics relating to disinformation, youth inclusion in digital policy-making, and youth-led digital innovation in African countries.

Prior experience includes working for UNDP's International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) in Brasília, Brazil. Aaron holds an MA degree in media and international development and a BA degree in journalism.
